There are moments in life when the path ahead can suddenly feel uncertain. A result we did not expect. A decision we did not anticipate making. A season we didn’t see coming.
In those moments, what shapes us most is often not just what we’re facing, but who steps in to walk beside us – to listen, to support, and to remind us that we are not alone.
This is what Pregnancy Care Canada-affiliated pregnancy care centres have been doing for decades — stepping into people’s lives in times that often feel unexpected and uncertain. Centre personnel walk beside the woman quietly processing a positive test, the father discovering courage and strength he didn’t know he had, or the family of an unborn child whose presence will shape their hearts in ways they cannot yet see.
This work is rarely loud. It is rarely visible. But it is deeply personal.
Across Canada, in local communities and increasingly online, pregnancy care centres create safe spaces for women and men to pause, ask important questions, and receive accurate information, compassionate care, and practical support before taking their next steps.
The work of Pregnancy Care Canada is also not loud or often visible, but it is also personal. Just as centre personnel step in and walk alongside clients, PCC staff step in and walk alongside centre personnel — staff, volunteers, and board members. We create safe spaces for important questions and conversations, foster connection and shared learning, develop comprehensive training, and provide practical resources.
It is a profound privilege to step into the role of executive director of Pregnancy Care Canada. And it is a greater privilege to be part of a national network that consistently steps in with excellence.
For those who are already part of this journey, thank you for walking alongside us. And for those who are just discovering this work, we invite you to step in with us as we continue to support centres that are faithfully serving women, men, and families across our country, when it matters most.
